Your public IP address is visible to websites and online services. Your private IP address is used inside your local network, such as your home Wi-Fi, office network, router, or internal devices.
Can my IP address reveal my exact home address?
No. Your IP address usually shows an approximate location, often based on your ISP or network provider. It does not reveal your exact street address.
Why does my IP location look wrong?
Your IP location may show your ISP's routing location, a nearby city, your mobile carrier gateway, VPN endpoint, or proxy server.
Can I hide or change my IP address?
Yes. VPNs, proxies, mobile networks, and restarting some routers may change or mask your visible public IP address.
